The "YOKOTA Defoaming/Degassing Pump ASP type" received the 19th Nissyoku Excellent Food Machinery/Material Award in the machinery category.

The 19th Nissyoku Excellent Food Machinery/Material Award ceremony, established by the Japan Food Journal Co. Ltd., was held September 9th, 2016 in the Dai-ichi Hotel, Tokyo (Tokyo Minato Ward, Shinbashi) where the company's Defoaming/Degassing Pump ASP Type received the award in the machinery category.

The Nissyoku Excellent Food Machinery/Material Award was established by the Japan Food Journal Co. Ltd., in 1998, aimed at the development of machinery and robots supporting the food industry and materials industry, and to reward and show appreciation for their contributions, with this year being the 19th time that the award was presented. The target products include all machinery/robots, intermediate materials/sub-intermediate materials, and the software utilized by them, which are useful to the quality improvement of food products and support the food industry, such as food product-related machinery/robots/apparatus and their software, intermediate materials/sub-intermediate materials for packaging containers, food additives, essence, food ingredients, and functional raw materials. The awards are decided by a selection committee made up of representatives in various food industries and academics who discuss with and consult each other in reaching decisions.

The company's "Defoaming/Degassing Pump ASP type" enables the instant and continuous removal of wasteful bubbles and gas occurring in the food product manufacturing process, and it has been credited with contributing to the improvement of product quality and production efficiency, which led to it winning the 19th Nissyoku Excellent Food Machinery/Material Award in the machinery category.

The Japan Food Journal Co., Ltd. will hold an awards presentation ceremony and celebration for the 19th Nissyoku Excellent Food Machinery/Material Awards at the Dai-ichi Hotel Tokyo in Shimbashi, Tokyo on the 9th from 2 o'clock in the afternoon. This year a total of 12 products were selected which included 6 products in the machinery category, 4 products in the intermediate material category, and 2 products in the raw material category. The selected products were fairly decided by a 10 member selection committee, which included Chairman Takasuke Ishitani (Director of the Japan Food Packaging Association). The awards presentation ceremony and celebrations for the 20th Professional-use Processed Food Hit Product Awards and the 4th Regional Food Industry Contribution Awards will be held together on the same day. The award winning products will be on display in the ceremony hall, and the executive chairman of Nippon Access, Inc., Shigeharu Tanaka will give a commemorative lecture titled, "High Expectations for the Professional-use Food Market".

Defoaming/Degassing Pump ASP Type


Promoting itself as a company finding solutions to water and liquid handling problems, YOKOTA manufacturers and sells pumps and valves, and holds more than 100 patents. The "YOKOTA Defoaming/Degassing Pump ASP type" is a pump that was developed by applying the self-priming pump technology accumulated over many years and it can transfer water only after separating and discharging the air from the water.

In combination with an interlocked vacuum pump, it can instantly and continuously discharge wasteful bubbles and gas occurring when blending and agitating liquid food products. By equipping self-priming and pressurization functions, the conventional notions that food product defoaming/degassing requires expensive and large equipment have been overturned. In addition to its ability to manage everything from pumping to agitation, defoaming/degassing, and pressure feed as a single unit, the compact 300 mm wide and 800 mm long design enables its installation with almost no changes to an existing processing line, making it all the more attractive. What's more, because the pump has a minimal number of parts and a simple structure, maintenance and disassembly, and cleaning are easy.

The intended use is for defoaming/degassing processing at each stage in the manufacturing process such as the boiling, maceration, extraction, oil pressing, agitation, fermentation, and preservation, and defoaming processing and transfer prior to bottling of liquid food and dairy products, and it targets various products from high-fluidity liquids to high-viscosity liquids, and even to near-solid products such as miso paste. In addition, because it mechanically defoams and degasses and there is no need for the use of food additives such as defoaming agents, such indications on packaging are also unnecessary, which not only contributes to improved productivity and quality, but realizes improved safety and assurance, and reduced cost.

The "YOKOTA Defoaming/Degassing Pump ASP type" applies the company's original self-priming pump technology and can continuously extract bubbles and gas in liquids. The pump has been highly credited for its ability in assuring the uniform quality of food products and beverages and contributing to improved productivity, and currently over half of the manufactured pumps are being used by customers in the food product-related industries.

The Japan Food Journal Co., Ltd. held an award presentation ceremony and celebration for the 19th Nissyoku Excellent Food Machinery/Material Awards, the 20th Professional-use Processed Food Hit Product Awards, and the 4th Regional Food Industry Contribution Awards at the Dai-ichi Hotel Tokyo in Shimbashi, Tokyo on the 9th. About 450 industry participants gathered at the ceremony to celebrate the honors. The machinery/material awards were presented to 12 products in 3 categories, the professional-use processed food hit product awards were presented to 15 products in 5 categories, and the regional food industry contribution awards were presented to 6 companies.

The chairman & CEO of Japan Food Journal Co., Ltd. Masayoshi Konno gave the opening address on behalf of the organizers at the awards presentation ceremony. He expressed gratitude to the companies and products receiving awards in the 3 categories which support the development of the food industry. Afterwards, the selection process for each prize was explained, and a plaque and certificate were awarded to the representatives of the companies receiving an award.
At the celebration party hall, the machinery/material award winning products were on display and samples were distributed, and a food and drink tasting events was held for the products that won the professional-use processed food hit product awards and regional food industry contribution awards.
Additionally, prior to the presentation ceremony and celebration party, the executive chairman of Nippon Access, Inc., Shigeharu Tanaka gave a commemorative lecture titled "High Expectations for the Professional-use Food Market, Nippon Access Innovation and The Future of Professional-use Food Products".
